We do not teach Kata!
We do not teach jumping spinning back kicks!
What we do teach are techniques that are simple and effective.

Our syllabus is based on techniques studied from a number of different martial arts systems including Karate, Kickboxing/Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu and Budo-Jitsu CQC.

Our self defense classes are run by Chief Instructors Michael Hubbard and Philip Williams

Our self defence classes are designed to teach you a number of techniques and tactics to defend yourself in a variety of situations including:

  • Counters to Punches/Kicks
  • Adverse Situations
  • Multiple Attackers
  • Weapons Defence
  • and more…

Our stand up striking classes are based on techniques from Kickboxing, Muay-Thai and Boxing. We utilise the use of punches, kicks, elbows and knees combined with effective defensive techniques. Our influences also stem from traditional karate where footwork and counter striking plays a big part.

Muay-Thai or Thai Boxing is a combat sport of Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. This physical and mental discipline which includes combat on shins is known as “the art of eight limbs” because it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, shins, being associated with a good physical preparation that makes a full-contact fighter very efficient.

Our striking classes are great for developing technique and fitness with a variety of drills designed to incorporate smooth footwork, quick head movement, effective counter striking, aggressive offense and unbreakable defense.

At Macarthur Martial Arts our Striking classes are run by Head Coach Michael Hubbard.

Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. Jiu-Jitsu promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves or another against a bigger, stronger, heavier assailant by using proper technique, leverage, and most notably, taking the fight to the ground, and then applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the opponent. Jiu Jitsu training can be used for sport grappling tournaments and in self-defense situations.

At Macarthur Martial Arts, we focus our grappling classes on No-Gi techniques, specifically for use in Mixed Martial Arts (M.M.A) competition.

Our M.M.A Grappling classes are run by Head Coach Michael and Coach Matt.

Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full-contact combat sport that allows both striking and grappling, both standing and on the ground, using techniques from other combat sports and martial arts.

Made famous by promotions such as the UFC, Mixed Martial Arts is the combination of everything that we do at Macarthur Martial Arts.

Striking into Takedowns…

Takedowns into Grappling…

Grappling into Ground and Pound…

Whether you just want to have some fun, or get in the cage and compete.

At Macarthur Martial Arts our MMA classes are run by Head Coach Michael Hubbard and Coach Matt

Yes! Our classes are suitable for people of all skill levels. Whether you have never trained in martial arts in your life, or are a seasoned professional fighter, we have a class available for you

Yes! The only person you are competing against is you. Our classes are structured so that you can go at your own pace. Martial Arts is a brilliant way to improve your physical fitness and have fun at the same time. Everybody has to start somewhere!

Make sure you wear something comfortable to train in (shorts and a tshirt is usually fine). Bring a bottle of water and a towel with you and we will provide everything else. Try to make sure you arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of your class to give you plenty of time to get ready.

We find that doing one free class does not give a full representation of what we have to offer at Macarthur Martial Arts. We offer a Trial Program which will give you 2 full weeks of unlimited classes to make sure that our school is the right fit for you. Please speak to our staff for more information about purchasing a Trial Program
